James VanDerLinde

National Field Staff Director

James VanDerLinde is a retired U.S. Army Non-Commissioned officer with 12 years of service as an Airborne Infantryman. His military background instilled in him a resilient approach to problem solving, relentless drive, and unshakable commitment to any team he joins. Those attributes are the driving force behind his passion to serving the veteran and first-responder community at a high level.

Following his military service, he transitioned into entrepreneurship as a business owner and real estate investor. His strong desire to keep serving led him to non-profit work, where a meeting with Eric Albright, VHO’s sitting Executive Director, at the DUX Expo changed his trajectory. In 2025, he began volunteering with Valor and Honor. Standing up and leading the Tennessee state program just a few months later. Driven by a relentless work ethic that earned him the nickname “Bulldog” among his VHO peers, he now serves as both the Tennessee State Lead and the National Field Staff Director.

Outside of his professional pursuits, his life revolves around family and the outdoors. Whether sitting in a blind as an avid waterfowl hunter, chasing deer and turkey, or spending time on the water kayaking and fishing, he is happiest outside. He spends every moment he can traveling, exploring, and enjoying the outdoors alongside his wife, their two kids, and their black lab, Yuma.

Jason Apple

Board Advisor

Jason  was recently appointed the Executive Director of Valor and Honor. Jason was first introduced to the organization and founder John Perez in 2020 and felt an immediate personal connection with the organization’s purpose and values. Since then, he has been active with Valor and Honor in various ways, organizing events for veteran outreach, networking and fundraising, and joining the Board of Directors. Jason’s passion stems from his friendship with Charles “Chuck” Keating IV, who was Jason’s roommate at Indiana University but who dropped out to pursue a career as a Navy Seal. After Chuck was killed overseas in 2016, Jason became a supporter of the C4 Foundation and Seal Future Foundation, attending events and establishing relationships with members of the community. This led him to understanding the great need in the special warfare community, not only for therapy but also for transitional support. Jason received a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management in 2008. He returned to Atlanta to work in the family business Kitchen Fronts of Georgia. He later took over management of the business after his father passed away in 2020. Jason lives in Altanta, GA with his wife Jessica and two dogs Riley and Porkchop.
